Fluently bilingual, Mr. Boudreau is passionate about using innovation to help industry improve the mining industry.  In 2010, BESTECH launched NRG1-ECO®, a mine-wide energy management solution that greatly reduces a mine’s energy consumption while maximizing productivity, profitability and worker safety.  This ground-breaking product complements the existing industry leading products and service offerings.  Mr. Boudreau was instrumental in creating the MERI project Consortium, which resulted in the deployment of NRG1-ECO.

Mr. Boudreau is a member of many not-for-profit organizations, such as the Health Science North Capital Campaign Cabinet, Zawadi la Tumaini children’s orphanage, Ontario Mining Association, CIM and the Professional Engineers of Ontario.  He has been Chairman of the board for MIRARCO (Mining Innovation Rehabilitation & Applied Research Corporation) since 2010 and a member of the Cambrian College Board of Directors since 2012.  Mr. Boudreau plays an active role in helping these organizations achieve their strategic objectives.  Committed to enriching the mining industry and fostering the local business community, Marc is also past President of SAMSSA (Sudbury Area Mining Service & Supply Association) and a past director of the CIM Maintenance and Engineering Society and of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Boudreau is a true northerner, enjoying hunting and fishing in his spare time. A proud father of four, he feels blessed to live in beautiful Northern Ontario with his wife and children.



Denis Pitre

Denis Pitre

P. Eng., Vice President & Co-CEO

Mr. Denis Pitre is a Professional Engineer (electrical) and the Vice-President and Co-CEO of BESTECH.  Since 1989, Mr. Pitre has acquired valuable work experience in the mining industry.  He has a thorough understanding of mining plants, mill equipment, cooling plants, ventilation systems, smelters process control systems, computer networking and has managed large scale multi-discipline projects.  As project leader of numerous developments, Mr. Pitre has acquired specialized project management skills.  These experiences have encompassed all areas from the design to implementation stages, including commissioning and plant startup.

Within the electrical engineering domain, Mr. Pitre has extensive experience and knowledge of distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and computer languages, as well as fibre optic local and wide area networking. He has worked with various DCS systems: Foxboro I/A Systems and ABB Bailey INFI 90, including a range of PLCs such as Schneider, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Texas Instruments and General Electric. In addition to DCS and PLCs he has configured/calibrated Variable Frequency Drives, Soft Starters, motor protection relays, circuit breaker trip settings, breaker trip relays and all types of instrumentations.

Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in the area of ventilation, Mr. Pitre has contributed his skills and knowledge to numerous ventilation projects in various underground mines. He is proficient with the electrical and instrumentation design of mine fans and is skilled at programming and commissioning PLCs and HMIs. Combining his knowledge and experience with creativity to address his clients’ painpoints, he and his business partner developed a ventilation control system (VCS) that successfully controls air in an underground mine to reduce energy costs.

Mr. Pitre continues to broaden his knowledge and gain additional experience in the industry. His analytical skills allow him to accurately assess current situations and adapt to issues and challenges facing the industry. His leadership has been crucial to BESTECH’s success and is a vital asset to the firm.

A true outdoorsman and very family oriented, Denis enjoys fishing, hunting and exploring new grounds on his ATV with his family and friends. He is past President of the Sudbury Speed Skating Club, where he enjoyed watching his son and daughters compete at the provincial and national levels.



Jo-Anne Boucher

Ms. Jo-Anne Boucher is the General Manager of BESTECH Sudbury Services. Her responsibilities include business development, strategic planning, operational planning, financial accountability, and providing direction and support to the engineering services divisions of BESTECH, namely:

  • PMO (Project Management Office)
  • Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering Services
  • Mechanical/Civil Engineering Services
  • Automation Services
  • IT/IS Services

Her role is also to ensure that the proper processes, procedures, and systems are in place to provide top quality services to our clients in order to achieve our goal of being on time, on spec, and on budget.  Ms. Boucher has also been instrumental in leading the corporate level 5-year strategic plan at BESTECH.

She was previously the Manager of Engineering, Automation, and Power Divisions at BESTECH where she was primarily responsible for the development of the divisional strategic and business plans.  She prepared and managed the division’s budgets and staff, consisting of supervisors, project managers, engineers, designers and support staff.

Ms. Boucher has extensive experience at the management level; she has been a Manager in community colleges and a Project Manager and Project Engineer in the construction industry. Ms. Boucher has achieved great success in these capacities, due in large part to her knowledge, interpersonal skills, work ethic and efficiency.

Ms. Boucher’s dedication and effectiveness makes her an asset to our clients and fosters these qualities in each member of her team.  Ms. Boucher leads by example; her guidance and support is evident in all of the projects that the BESTECH Team undertakes. Ms. Boucher faces the challenges the services team encounters with logic, creativity and determination. Her engaging management style ensures an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect within the team; an atmosphere which carries over to the relationship with our clients.



Glen Dagenais

Glen Dagenais

P. Eng., Director, Technical Expertise Centre

Mr. Glen Dagenais is the Director of Technical Expertise Centre at BESTECH.  He has over two decades of experience and about half of that has been working for a major mining company.  This unique combination of hands-on, operational and design engineering experience has proven to be invaluable to the team.  Various positions held through his career include Division Manager, Mine Operations Technology Leader, Utilities Engineer and Six Sigma Brown Belt.

Mr. Dagenais’ expertise in electrical safety and mining electrical systems is recognized in the industry. He has served on two CSA technical committees; CSA Z462 – Workplace electrical safety and CSA M421 – The use of electricity on mines.

Mr. Dagenais is a vital member of the BESTECH team, and has enthusiastically faced his roles within the organization. He has provided a very valuable perspective on assigned projects, and is a highly respected leader and resource for the entire team.



Dan Dumais

Dan Dumais

P. Eng., C.E.M., Principal Engineer, Mining

Mr. Dumais is a Professional Engineer and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) with a degree in Mining Engineering from Laurentian University. For over 15 years, Mr. Dumais has been a valuable team member to numerous mining and industrial projects by helping clients reduce energy consumption, increase efficiency and maximize participation in various Ontario electricity market programs.

Dan has held progressively senior roles throughout his career at BESTECH, specializing in energy and energy efficiency. He is currently a Principal Engineer and the Manager of the Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering department.

Mr. Dumais was responsible for developing an energy module for the BESTECH NRG1-ECO® ventilation control system, which allows for adjustment of an underground mine’s ventilation system, thus providing a reduction of up to 30% in energy costs.  Dan also managed the various needs for the efficient execution of the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of ventilation control system projects at various Northern Ontario mines.

In addition to being a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario, Mr. Dumais is an active member of the Ontario Mining Association’s Energy Committee.  He takes pride in helping this organization achieve its mission to promote energy policy that enhances the competitiveness of mining in Ontario and to encourage companies to continually improve their energy efficiency.



Patrick (Pat) Fantin

Patrick (Pat) Fantin

P.Eng., Principal Engineer, Electrical

Mr. Patrick Fantin is a Principal Engineer in the Technical Expertise Centre at BESTECH.  He has over 28 years of management, project management and engineering experience in the mining and material handling business having worked in Canada and abroad.  Various positions held through his career include President, Technical Vice President, Manager, Project Manager and Owners Team Infrastructure Lead as well as Engineer in Training to Principal Engineer.

Mr. Fantin is an experienced project manager who has worked with company project teams, large EPCM organizations, OEM’s and contractors/suppliers utilizing a variety of contractual arrangements including alliance style contracts to meet the required objectives.

Mr. Fantin is passionate about people and building successful integrated teams that are focused and aligned with project goals but also have the ability to have fun during execution.  His diverse experience has been an asset to the teams he has worked with during his career.



Dino Titon

Dino Titon

P.Eng., Principal Engineer, Electrical

Mr. Dino Titon is a Principal Engineer at BESTECH and is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario.  He brings over 25 years of field and consulting experience specializing in electrical power systems and controls for all aspects of industry, including mining, utilities, forestry and commercial.  His experience is varied and extensive with the right mixture of field service, power systems engineering and design, construction and commissioning duties.   Mr. Titon is also a highly experienced senior project manager with expertise in supervising multi-disciplinary teams for large engineering projects.   He has proven to be a great communicator, leader and is a highly respected resource for his team.

Trang Tran-Valade

P.Eng., PMP, Director of Strategic Innovations

Trang Tran-Valade is the Director of Strategic Innovations for BESTECH, a firm specializing in the areas of engineering, automation, software development and environmental monitoring.   Graduating from the Computer Engineering program with the Business Management Option from the University of Ottawa, Ms. Tran-Valade is a Professional Engineer and a Certified Project Management Professional. Her responsibilities at BESTECH include business development, strategic planning and implementation, financial planning for research and development initiatives and leading/coordinating Intellectual Property protection strategies. Since 2005, Ms. Tran-Valade has contributed to the organization in a variety of capacities, including the management of the IT/IS, Automation, and Research & Development teams, where she prepared and monitored each respective division’s budget and supervised employees, consisting of project managers, engineers, programmers and support staff.

Ms. Tran-Valade is an excellent ambassador to BESTECH in the global market and has represented the company for many engineering projects and at several international conferences and speaking engagements.  She is effective at securing partnerships with other innovation leaders and organizing project consortiums with various stakeholders in the mining industry, including large corporations, academia, suppliers, and funding agencies. Her work ethic, efficiency, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills allow her to build relationships and capitalize on opportunities with key clients and numerous industry representatives.

In her spare time, Ms. Tran-Valade is an avid reader and traveler. With the support of her husband and two children, she has been actively involved in various professional development associations and community groups for many years. She is currently the General Co-Chair of the 2016 CIM Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability/Mine Operators (MeMO) Conference and Chair of the CIM (Canadian Institute of Mining) Sudbury Branch. Her contributions to the CIM, Sudbury branch have helped the branch operate efficiently, attract new executive members, and thrive through economic cycles. In addition, she is a member of WISE (Women in Science and Engineering), Sudbury Chapter, where she guides her peers that are not always open to gender diversity and seeks to inspire young females in the fields of science and engineering. Finally, Ms. Tran-Valade supports youth athletic groups in her community as a volunteer coach for both basketball and soccer.

Due to her many professional achievements and ongoing volunteerism, Ms. Tran-Valade was recognized as one of Sudbury’s recipients of the “40 Under Forty” Awards in 2011 and received the CIM Presidents’ Role Model Medal in 2015.



Gilles Valade

Gilles Valade

P.Eng., PMP, Principal Engineer, Automation

Mr. Gilles Valade is a Professional Engineer and a graduate of the Computer Engineering program at the University of Ottawa.  He also completed the Instrumentation and Electronic Technician program at Cambrian College. He has worked in the engineering field for over 10 years and during this time has worked in a number of disciplines and has been lead for many varying types of projects.  Mr. Valade has extensive knowledge and experience with a wide variety of the mining industry’s control systems.  From a technical perspective, he has sound knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), DCS Foxboro systems, computer networking and automation systems.

Mr. Valade has extensive experience in surface and underground mining infrastructure; both in the engineering and programming disciplines. These systems include; dewatering, ore handling, ventilation, microseismic, networking and communication, process water, compressed gas and zone infrastructure.  Additionally, he has extensive experience managing schedules, budgets and activities, while proving to be a very knowledgeable and adaptive technical resource.

Mr. Valade is currently a principal engineer who assists and leads on various projects and coaches and trains members of the automation team.
