MEDIA RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUDBURY, September 11, 2013 –BESTECH is pleased to announce that the company has been honoured by Canadian Blood Services at its annual “Honouring Our Lifeblood” national event held on Monday night in Ottawa at the Canadian War Museum. BESTECH was nominated and selected as Outstanding Partner in the North/East Ontario & Nunavut region for 2012, having substantially exceeded its potential for blood donations based on the number of employees in the organization. The evening featured Lloyd Robertson as Master of Ceremonies and Jody Mitic, who is currently competing on the Amazing Race Canada with his brother, as the Keynote speaker.
According to the Canadian Blood Services website, Partners for Life is a nationwide program that is designed for corporate and community organizations. By joining the program, organizations make a commitment to save lives by donating blood as a team. To be involved, the organization must select a program champion who is the main contact and acts as a leader to promote the program and encourage members of the organization to participate. The organization must also set a donation pledge – the lifesaving goal for that year.
BESTECH joined the Partners for Life program in early 2012 and immediately started educating its employees about the need for blood. Anna Frattini, Marketing Manager at BESTECH, is the company’s champion for the Partners for Life program. Frattini rallies her colleagues and attempts to bring two to three groups to the Sudbury blood donor clinic every 56 days. With a staff complement of approximately 80 people in the Sudbury offices, the BESTECH team achieved 42 donations in their first eight months of partnership – an incredible feat for a group of that size, according to Canadian Blood Services. The BESTECH donations compared to organizations with more than triple the employee count, proving that a small company can make a big difference in the community.
“The staff at BESTECH immediately embraced this opportunity to step up and support the community,” said Marc Boudreau, Co-CEO of BESTECH. “BESTECH really emphasizes team spirit in its culture and the team aspect definitely resonates every time staff members give blood at Canadian Blood Services. I am honoured to be part of an organization with such selfless and compassionate individuals. Our employees definitely validate the Canadian Blood Services’ slogan: Together we can save more lives.”
BESTECH wishes to extend sincere congratulations to all partners, peer recruiters, volunteers, donors and other honourable guests who were recognized at the annual Honouring Our Lifeblood event in Ottawa.
