Structural Engineer

As a Structural Engineer, you will play a leadership role within a multi-discipline team to provide structural engineering design for detailed engineering projects. This individual will lead the design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. The Structural Engineer will lead the group in the preparation of study reports, estimates and project proposals. This individual will review project documents and drawings for technical quality and accuracy. He/she will utilize their structural design expertise and act as a resource for industry codes, standards and construction methods. The Structural Engineer will also play a substantial role of Business Development for the company and will contribute to strategic planning for the Structural Engineering team. The Structural Engineer will contribute to the expansion of the existing Structural team and practice at BESTECH.

 

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering specializing in concrete and steel design.
  • Must hold Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex and sophisticated engineering design projects.
  • Knowledge of local market conditions, emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Strong business acumen, contract negotiation skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Proven ability in Business Development strategies, building on existing and new relationships through the development of networks with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to manage complex situations with multiple stakeholders utilizing conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong project leadership skills with ability to manage a project team responsible for scope, schedule and budget.
