Project Manager

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and designing product initiation and deployment/implementation projects as well as assembling project teams to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.  This includes organizing highly complex activities for the development and execution of research and development projects and reporting to management on various key performance indicators.

More specifically, this individual will be responsible for estimating and monitoring costs, providing guidance and technical expertise in development projects and acting as team leader.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Ensure that safety is paramount in all undertakings.
  • Provide leadership to team on product development projects.
  • Develop, track and manage project budget, project plans, timelines and scope.
  • Efficiently communicate to stakeholders to manage expectations and project progress.
  • Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized.
  • Ensure that necessary risk assessments are continually reviewed and monitored and proactively addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet business needs.
  • Make presentations to steering committees or project sponsors.
  • Manage project resources including procuring project staff, developing, motivating, coaching and advising.
  • Partner closely with other members of functional project teams to define business requirements.
  • Prepare and present cost-benefit analyses.
  • Successfully plan, execute, control and close projects against defined scope and budget using client procedures and policies.
  • Manage medium to large scale projects working collaboratively with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical resources.
  • Other duties as required.

Essential Job Requirements & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field or Bachelor of Commerce required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
  • PMP or PMI certification.
  • 5-10 years of experience with knowledge of mining related processes is a definite asset.
  • People management and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization.
  • Strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions.
  • Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment.
  • Extensive computer knowledge in industry applications, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with exceptional report writing skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment to meet tight deadlines.

SAP Integration Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing SAP solutions, performing SAP system integrations, and creating software for both internal and external clients.  The SAP Integration Specialist will perform all aspects of development from requirements gathering to training end users.

Manager, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Services (Relocation Opportunity)

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Electrical (ELC) division. Mining Engineer

The successful candidate will have accumulated a high level of engineering expertise both at the discipline theory and in its application through study work and field experience.  The Mining Engineer will develop and maintain rolling 12 and 18 month plans and build BESTECH’s Mining Engineering team to grow our existing services team.  This person will be responsible to build and manage the Mining team to 1) develop mine designs at the FEL2-3 and Detailed Engineering levels, 2) help clients to integrate MineRP solutions, 3) work with our technology team for the integration of solutions within the mining industry.  This role will be based in our Sudbury or GTA office.

Essential Job Requirements & Experience:

  • University degree in Mining Engineering with 6+ years progressive mining experience, both operational and technical, with the majority in underground mining.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex and sophisticated engineering design projects
  • Extensive knowledge in engineering standards, codes and guidelines.
  • Must be registered as or immediately eligible to register as a P.Eng in Ontario.
  • Working knowledge of mine design software (Deswik, Autocad, Datamine).
  • Extensive computer knowledge in industry applications, including Deswik, MineRP, Promine, AutoCAD, EPS and Advanced user of Microsoft Excel. (Microstation or Microsoft Project).
  • Must be familiar with underground ventilation methods and the use of ventilation software such as Ventsim and VNet.
  • Must be fit for duty, and able to make frequent underground work site visits.
  • Knowledge of local market conditions, emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to manage complex situations with multiple stakeholders utilizing conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong project leadership skills with ability to coach and mentor and share safety and ethical behaviors.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making skills and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Able to ensure that all projects maintain a safe operating environment.

Automation Engineer, P.Eng.

Essential Job Requirements & Experience:

  • 10+ years business experience in industrial engineering, mining, and industrial manufacturing
  • Understanding of standards and regulatory requirements as it relates to engineering design and industry specific to mining
  • Formal sales or business development training and a solid understanding of the sales process and leading and managing a team-based sales funnel process using a CRM system
  • Track record of success in new business development and customer acquisition
  • Solid foundation of marketing fundamentals including segmentation, positioning, competitive analysis, and communications
  • Excellent (written/oral) communication skills (English/French) with strong public presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and computer skills
  • Bilingual (English/French)
  • Spanish an asset, but not required
  • Ability to travel globally and possess a valid Canadian Passport

Software Architect

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating software for both internal and external clients.  They will perform all aspects of development from requirements gathering to training end users.  On large scale projects, they are part of a team working under a team lead and a project manager.  On smaller projects they may perform independently throughout the entire software life cycle.  Developers will participate in estimation, proposal creation, requirements gathering, programming, testing, and documentation while delivering software solutions

 Skills and Requirements:

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum five (5) or more years of software development experience
  • Experience with modern web applications: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJs, Bootstrap
  • Experience with WCF or similar communication framework
  • Experience with source control tools
  • IT knowledge of networks, servers and hardware
  • General knowledge of mining and mining processes
  • General knowledge of process control
  • Strong comprehensive knowledge of at least one of the following development technologies and working knowledge of several others: C#.NET, ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, etc
  • Database design and strong working experience developing with either Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle
  • Comprehensive knowledge of application architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies/frameworks
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills for both team collaboration and external clients
  • Self-motivated, positive, and able to focus on delivering ‘On Spec, On Time, On Budget
  • Ability to travel and access to a vehicle
  • Fluent in English (written and oral)

  • Experience with medium voltage distribution for both surface and underground
