We are seeking bright, talented, and ambitious candidates for the following positions:

The Mine Engineer will be responsible to participate in the preparation of mine studies, such as environmental assessments, scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design, and Technical Reports under NI 43-101 regulations.  They will join in developing designs for a variety of underground and surface orebodies and mining methods, mine infrastructure, ventilation systems and mining services (i.e. water, dewatering, air, power, communications, etc.).

Primary Job Duties

  • Develop annual and life of mine forecasts including mine plans, mine designs, schedules and production forecasts using computer applications requested by clients
  • Integrate sustaining capital projects for infrastructure construction and maintenance into mine plans and schedules
  • Prepare mining engineering drawings
  • Help develop operating and capital cost estimations using first-principles, benchmarking and conceptual cost models
  • Prepare productivity calculations and mining equipment specifications
  • Participate in the development of end of mine life closure and remediation plans
  • Contribute to client proposals and project budgets
  • Attend conferences and workshops to promote BESTECH and learn about current mining industry trends and equipment
  • Assist with the business development process by identifying and sharing new business opportunities
  • Promote and support BESTECH’S Core Values and Culture
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Job Requirements & Experience

  • Undergraduate Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering from an accredited University
  • Minimum (3) years of mining experience as consulting engineer, or a technical services role within a mining company
  • Must have an EIT or P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers Ontario or be eligible to registered as an EIT or professional engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Consideration given to candidates with 1) Technical Diploma from an accredited institution; 2) Membership in OACETT with C.E.T. or C.Tech. certification; and 3) Appropriate amount of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of mining, mining engineering, geotechnical applications in hard rock underground mine environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and mine design/planning software is an asset (e.g. Deswik, SurPac, Mine 2 4D; Gems, etc.)
  • Experience in geology, mining operation, mine design, metallurgy and environmental reclamation an asset
  • Knowledge of VentSim or equivalent ventilation software is an asset
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Fluent in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) is considered an asset
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Valid Driver’s License with access to a personal vehicle
  • Willing to travel
