Argonaut Gold

Argonaut’s Magino Project, an open-pit gold mine and processing plant located east of Dubreuilville, Ontario, was preparing to transition from construction to operations in 2023.
To ensure a smooth transition, it was crucial to verify that all environmental regulatory requirements were met comprehensively. BESTECH undertook a meticulous third-party due diligence review of the regulatory environmental requirements applicable to the Magino Project.
SCOPE
The process involved an extensive audit-style gap analysis, evaluating the project’s compliance with approximately 50 federal and provincial requirements. These included assessments related to environmental assessments, permits for operations in sensitive areas, emissions regulations, water usage, waste disposal, and emergency response plans.
SCOPE
The comprehensive review conducted by BESTECH provided Argonaut with critical assurance about the Magino Project’s regulatory compliance status as it transitioned to operations. BESTECH’s findings helped prioritize areas needing attention and offered tailored recommendations for ongoing compliance. This strategic insight facilitated the project’s alignment with current regulations and prepared it for future compliance needs, educating new project employees and enhancing the project’s overall regulatory standing.
