BESTECH ensured the structural integrity of Bell's multi-story office building basement, which suffered significant concrete deterioration. The mat foundation and deep piles were on weak soils, requiring rehabilitation.
SCOPE
BESTECH assessed the condition of the basement’s structural components through a visual review of the slab, concrete piers, and masonry walls. They identified spots for concrete core sampling and conducted tests to analyze the concrete’s chemical characteristics. Specific areas of the basement floor slab were targeted for removal to inspect the reinforcing steel condition.
BESTECH produced a summary report outlining findings, discussions, and repair recommendations, including design drawings and a construction cost estimate. They also managed contract administration during the project through regular site visits, addressing RFIs, validating contractor progress, and preparing payment certificates.
OUTCOME
The project successfully restored the structural integrity of the basement foundation. The assessments and targeted remediation ensured the foundation could support the building’s functionality and safety. Through diligent contract administration, BESTECH maintained high quality standards within budget and timelines.
