Glencore Sudbury INO

Underground Shop Detailed Engineering
2015
Automation

BESTECH undertook a comprehensive project to enhance the operational efficiency, safety, and functionality of Glencore Sudbury INO’s Fraser Morgan Underground Shop.

The initiative focused on optimizing the main shop area, integrating advanced systems in the hydraulics and lubrication bay, developing effective water management for the wash bay, designing versatile storage solutions, creating functional office spaces, and ensuring a reliable electrical distribution system.

SCOPE

BESTECH employed a systematic and collaborative approach throughout the project. Comprehensive site assessments were conducted to understand the existing conditions, constraints, and requirements. Engaging stakeholders was a key component, with close collaboration with shop personnel and other parties to gather insights and ensure that the designs met operational and safety needs.

Advanced design software and modelling tools were utilized to create detailed and accurate engineering designs. Throughout the project, there was a strong focus on ensuring that all designs and implementations adhered to industry standards and regulatory requirements, with an emphasis on safety and compliance.

OUTCOME

The redesign significantly improved the facility’s layout and equipment setup, fostering a streamlined environment for maintenance and repair activities. This not only reduced manual handling risks but also enhanced the overall workflow and safety of the shop.
