KGHM

Ontario's mining industry, the largest consumer of electricity in the province, must optimize energy use and meet strict Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) objectives.
To address these challenges, KGHM recruited BESTECH for projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and operational sustainability.
SCOPE
BESTECH has led energy-focused projects that greatly improve operational efficiency and environmental compliance at KGHM’s Levack and McCreedy Mine operations. A key component has been the deployment of NRG-1 ECO control systems, enabling flexible manual, scheduled, and automated energy management.
BESTECH also secured significant funding for KGHM from Ontario’s IESO Industrial Accelerator Program, used to upgrade ventilation controls, refine dewatering and compressor systems, and advance heat recovery processes.
OUTCOME
Through its consulting services in energy management and market strategies, BESTECH helped KGHM navigate regulatory landscapes and optimize energy use. Their support included quarterly NIER reporting, prioritization of energy efficiency projects, and provision of energy data dashboards. BESTECH also managed System Impact Assessment applications and implemented global adjustment avoidance strategies, ensuring KGHM’s operations were cost-effective and environmentally compliant.
