MINSUR

Minsur engaged BESTECH to conduct a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) analysis for the Production and Service Fleets at the San Rafael mine and Nazareth Project in Peru.
The study evaluated the transition from diesel to electric vehicles in mining operations, aiming to identify BEV-related investment opportunities to enhance Minsur’s operational value.
SCOPE
The study systematically assessed various aspects of BEV integration. BESTECH analyzed the technical and economic feasibility of converting the fleet to electric vehicles, focusing on capital expenditure (CAPEX), operational expenditure (OPEX), and overall financial implications through cash flow analyses on a net present value basis. It also examined potential environmental and health benefits, such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions and decreased diesel particulate matter exposure, in line with sustainable mining practices.
OUTCOME
The BEV study provided MINSUR with crucial data on BEV investments and highlighted opportunities for improvements in sustainability and worker health. It confirmed the feasibility of a BEV fleet conversion, prompting further investigations and the development of an optimal implementation strategy. This insight allowed MINSUR to make informed decisions on future BEV technology investments to enhance efficiency and environmental compatibility in mining operations.
