Environmental Procedures & Management Plans
2024
Environmental

As Prodigy Gold's Magino Mine transitioned from the construction phase to the operations phase, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) needed to be updated and consolidated.

This was necessary to ensure that the mine’s operational practices aligned with current environmental standards and could effectively manage environmental impacts.

SCOPE

To address this need, BESTECH rewrote various critical environmental management and operational procedures. This included updating surface and groundwater sampling procedures, hydrometric sampling, fugitive dust management, and atmospheric environmental management.

BESTECH’s environmental specialists carefully reviewed and revised the existing documents, ensuring they reflected the latest environmental standards, methodologies, and regulatory requirements. This involved consolidating information from multiple resources into standalone documents to simplify usage and reduce the need for cross-referencing.

OUTCOME

The revised SOPs and EMPs now serve as comprehensive, standalone guides that simplify the operational processes and reduce the need for cross-referencing multiple documents. They incorporate the latest environmental standards and methodologies updates, ensuring that Magino Mine’s operations remain compliant with current regulations. Moreover, the clear and updated guidance supports the mine’s staff in effectively managing environmental aspects, thus facilitating smoother and more compliant operations as the mine shifts from construction to full operational status.
