BESTECH managed an engineering project for Vale’s Totten Mine.
The project involved the detailed engineering of the mine’s ore and waste handling system, including the design of an underground crusher, loading pocket, conveyors, feeders, bins, and chutes.
SCOPE
BESTECH handled various engineering tasks, such as network design, fibre distribution, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation (E&I), and automation engineering for the ore and waste handling system. The team conducted an arc flash study, designed controls for main and auxiliary hoists, and developed underground tracking and wireless system designs.
BESTECH also designed the operations center, created an energy management strategy, and implemented a process control strategy, design criteria, and functional descriptions for systems like return air raise, fresh air raise, and underground ventilation.
OUTCOME
BESTECH provided construction and commissioning support, which included engineering oversight, developing commissioning checklists, and creating training packages for operational transitions at Vale’s Totten Mine.
