Vale Canada Limited

The Vale Process Control Network (PCN) security reparations project required BESTECH to undertake comprehensive engineering design, drawing preparation, and project oversight to enhance the security and efficiency of Vale’s process control systems.
This project was essential to address vulnerabilities in the network and to ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) standards.
SCOPE
BESTECH focused on a multifaceted upgrade to the PCN architecture to bolster security, reliability, and redundancy. This involved not only the redesign of the network infrastructure but also the integration of new hardware and software capable of monitoring the operational status of all network components. The modifications were aimed at creating a secure, robust framework that could withstand both internal and external challenges to system integrity.
Additionally, the team engineered and constructed custom network racks, incorporating lockable cabinets to safeguard the PIN computers and network equipment, further enhancing the physical security of the system.
OUTCOME
The completion of the Vale PCN security reparations project significantly fortified the security and operational integrity of Vale’s process control systems. By implementing a more secure and reliable network architecture, BESTECH helped Vale to mitigate potential security risks effectively. The new setup not only provided enhanced monitoring capabilities but also ensured that all critical components were physically secured.
