Vale Canada Limited

Vale faced operational and maintenance challenges with the conveyor system on the Smelter's Sand Floor resulting in inefficiencies and downtime.
BESTECH undertook detailed engineering to modify the Sand Floor belt, replacing the problematic plough system with three fixed trippers.
SCOPE
The project involved mechanical and structural engineering to adjust the conveyor belt and chute work. Additionally, electrical and instrumentation engineering was required to refeed the head end of the conveyor and provide power to the fixed tripper diverters, ensuring they operated efficiently and reliably.
OUTCOME
Installing fixed trippers and adjusting the conveyor system provided a robust solution to the operational challenges at the Smelter. The new system allows efficient charging of the scrap and flux bins, significantly reducing downtime, enhancing the operational efficiency of the Smelter, and ensuring smoother and more reliable material handling processes.
