Vale Canada Limited

Vale’s Vermillion River pump house substation needed a complete overhaul due to its age.
BESTECH conducted feasibility studies (FEL 1 and FEL 2), identifying the necessity for a new substation to meet projected load increases and spatial constraints.
SCOPE
Building on the FEL 2 study, BESTECH refined the substation’s design, choosing a new site suitable for expanded infrastructure. This included a new breaker, transformer, and electrical house.
With the project design and budget established, BESTECH executed the comprehensive design work, involving civil and structural engineering for site grading, foundations, and steel structures. Electrical engineering focused on grounding systems, cable management, and protection and control measures to ensure reliability and safety.
OUTCOME
BESTECH’s detailed designs facilitated effective site preparation and installation, ensuring the new substation meets the current and future needs of the Vermillion River facility. The project addressed immediate infrastructural deficiencies and prepared the site for future operational demands, ensuring long-term serviceability and compliance with industry standards.
