Underground Installation Engineering Standards
2021
Mining

BESTECH executed design projects involving detailed engineering across mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines for underground installations.

These included essential infrastructure elements for mining operations such as ventilation walls, sandfill stations, vent pipe systems, secondary sumps, latrines, powder magazines, storage areas, wash bays, refuge stations, and sumps.

SCOPE

BESTECH’s design packages featured structural designs for vent walls with various doors and openings for pipes and ducts under different pressures. Mechanical designs included layouts for water, compressed air, and dewatering pipes, ventilation ducts, and support systems. Electrical designs covered power and control systems, while structural designs incorporated steel catwalks and concrete structures. Specifications for standard vent doors, louvers, and personal doors were also prepared, along with a quality control checklist for vent wall installations.

OUTCOME

The projects led to standardized, regulatory-compliant design packages that improved safety and functionality in underground mines.
