Ventilation Engineering Studies for Young-Davidson Mine

In a groundbreaking initiative at Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson mine, BESTECH spearheaded a pivotal shift in mine ventilation technology. Through our comprehensive engineering studies, we laid the groundwork for an advanced ventilation control system designed to significantly reduce energy consumption and centralize operational control. This project, marked by its innovation and focus on sustainability, not only promises to revolutionize the mine's operational efficiency but also stands as a model for future advancements in mining technology. Our studies’ approval by the IESO for funding is a testament to our expertise in engineering solutions that are both economically and environmentally forward-thinking.

Alamos Gold required a comprehensive study for the implementation of a ventilation control system at the Young-Davidson mine. The goal was to estimate potential energy savings and to determine the costs associated with a system allowing central control of equipment.

BESTECH executed both a Preliminary Engineering Study (PES) and a Detailed Engineering Study (DES) for this critical project. Our focus was on designing a ventilation control system that not only optimizes energy use but also centralizes control for enhanced operational efficiency.

Key Features:

  • In-depth Preliminary Engineering Study to assess feasibility and potential benefits.
  • Detailed Engineering Study to outline the system’s implementation and cost.
  • Design of a centralized control system for efficient management of ventilation equipment.
  • Evaluation of potential energy savings to support the mine’s sustainability goals.

The implementation project received approval for funding from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and is awaiting capital approval from the site. This endorsement highlights the project’s potential for significant energy savings and operational improvements at the Young-Davidson mine.
